Brazilian Queer Tropical Fusion singer and composer Johnny Hooker presents his second album "Coração" in Berlin supported by legendary Berliner drag queen Gloria Viagra.

Johnny Hooker is a performer and songwriter from Pernambuco/Brazil that describes himself as “a fierce woman in a man’s body with tearful eyes”. He was awarded “Best Male Performer” at the “Brazilian Music Award” and dazed the musical industry with his first solo album “Eu Vou Fazer uma Macumba pra te Amarrar, Maldito!” that was chosen as one of the best albums of the year by Rolling Stone magazine.

Johnny blends local rhythms like samba, brega, frevo, guitarrada and axé music, seeking to reestablish the identity of his own country and composing unapologetic Northeastern songs that challenge gender and Brazilian expressions.

After becoming a social media hit and touring around Brazil for two years, Johnny Hooker released his second album “Coração”.

“Coração” is a deeper immersion into Brazilian and Latin music appreciation that follows Hooker’s work trademark, an ongoing audible, visual and performative exploration. On the previous album, “Eu Vou Fazer uma Macumba pra te Amarrar, Maldito!”, the performer and songwriter led us through a journey into passionate love stories in the city of Recife with a combination of rhythms from brega to blues and frevo. This time, however, the artistic direction turned to a combination of “Tropicalismo” and the American Blue-eyed Soul. “Like if Caetano Veloso and David Bowie had a son in Recife”, say Johnny.

Johnny will present his work for the first time in Berlin, Lisbon, Porto and Barcelona.

Gloria Viagra is Berlin’s most famous drag queen and an essential character of Berlin’s party and cultural scene. Drag icon, nightlife celebrity, and notorious party host and promoter— she runned great known parties in Berlin like Partysahne. She is also a very popular TV Host thanks to her Online TV Show Thekenschlampe. Booked in the main Clubs of Berlin and around the world as DJ, host, performer and singer.

The star of Berlin’s underground is also a political activist: she campaigns for human rights in all contexts, supports the LGBT community wherever she can and speaks out for welcoming and supporting refugees - not only in Germany but all over the world. Gloria Viagra is “the Empire State Building of Drags”, more than 2.20 meters high! She is probably the biggest Drag in the world.
