NIDARE:
From the heart of Berlin, Nidare crafts a sound that is as
expansive as their origins. Their music draws deeply from
the well of their influences, including Deafheaven, Der Weg
einer Freiheit, Amenra and Oathbreaker. Weaving together
atmospheric soundscapes with the raw intensity of black
metal.
Nidare’s journey began with a DIY demo released in 2019,
capturing the raw energy and passion of their early days.
They quickly followed this up with a 4-way-split with Welk,
Argon, and Lazar, showcasing their ability to collaborate
and innovate within the genre. Their first full-length LP „Von
Wegen“, released in 2022 via Through Love Records, mar-
ked a significant milestone in their career, receiving critical
acclaim for its depth and complexity. This was followed by
„Naehe und Flackern“, also via Through Love Records, fur-
ther establishing their signature sound and artistic vision.
Nidare has made their mark on the live music scene with
performances touring through Germany and neighbour-
ing European countries. With over 80 shows under the belt,
their intense and emotive live shows have captivated audien-
ces, further establishing their reputation in the post-black
metal community.
Looking ahead, Nidare is poised to continue their ascent
in the post-black metal scene. They have recorded a new
EP titled „Es laesst nicht los, ich jedoch laengst“, schedu-
led for release in 2024, promising to deliver more of the
intense, emotive music their fans have come to love. Addi-
tionally, the band is planning to release another full-length
LP in 2025, which is eagerly anticipated by their growing
fanbase.
Nidare’s lineup has seen the addition of new singer Christopher
and guitarist David, each bringing fresh energy and perspec-
tives to the band. This dynamic has further evolved their sound,
adding new layers and dimensions to their music.
Nidare stands out not only for their cross-continental roots
but also for their relentless pursuit of pushing the boundaries
of post-black metal. Their music is a testament to their diverse
backgrounds and shared passion, making them a compelling
force in the metal community.
_______________________________________
r ý r is a Berlin-based instrumental post-metal
band, deriving its name from the Icelandic
word for barren or sparse. This contrast between
scarcity and depth is central to their sound —
powerful, bass-heavy, yet ethereal. Their music
conjures vast, rugged landscapes where desola-
tion and hope intertwine.
Instrumental post-rock and post-metal/doom
often lean toward either immersive atmospheres
or sheer heaviness, resulting in predictability.
Seeking to disrupt this pattern, Marius Jung
founded rýr in 2018 with the goal of blending
heavy rhythms and dynamic riffs without
sacrificing atmosphere. Since then, the band has
evolved significantly, playing over 70 live shows
across Germany and Europe, and releasing two
full-length albums, both of which were well-
received within the scene. The band is currently
a three-piece, featuring Eric Knoop on drums
and Florian Fricke on bass.
The band’s logo, featuring a root, symbolizes
resilience and growth amid adversity
—
a theme
echoed in their compositions. Layers of at-
mospheric textures collide with weighty riffs,
forging soundscapes that shift between crushing
intensity and dreamlike expanses. Tracks such
as Trajectory from their second album exempli-
fies this balance, merging forceful rhythms with
haunting melodies.
